How to sign a PDF on Android
Unlike iPhone and Mac, Android does not ship a signature tool: Google Drive can draw on a PDF with a pen, which passes for a signature if your handwriting cooperates, and that is about it. A browser tool in Chrome gives you a proper signature pad without an app.
Is there a built-in way on Android?
No. Android has nothing built in for this, and the closest things get in the way:
- Open the PDF in the Google Drive app and tap the pen (Annotate) icon, if your version shows one. You can draw with a pen tool, which can serve as a hand-drawn signature.
- Tap Save. Drive writes the annotation into a new version of the file.
What that means
- No signature tool as such: nothing stores a signature for reuse, and there is no typed option.
- Drive's annotation is only available in the Drive app, and the file has to be in Drive first.
- Manufacturer viewers vary; many Android phones open PDFs with no editing at all.
Do it in the browser instead
The same Sign PDF tool as the main page, running in Chrome on Android. Nothing is installed and the file is processed on your device.
