Why a rotation sometimes does not stick

Rotating a page in a PDF viewer often only changes how that viewer displays it. Close the file, send it to someone else, or print it, and the page is sideways again — because the rotation was never written into the document.

This tool writes the rotation into the file itself, so it travels with the document to every viewer and to the printer. That is the difference between turning your head and turning the page.

Rotation is cumulative

Each click adds 90° to whatever the page already had. A page that arrives sideways at 90° and gets clicked once lands at 180°, not back at zero. Clicking four times returns a page to where it started, which is the quickest way to undo a mistake without reloading the file.

Because rotation is stored as a property of the page rather than by rewriting its contents, nothing is re-encoded — text stays selectable, images keep their original quality, and the file size barely moves.
