Page range notation

The range box takes ordinary page numbers, separated by commas. Each comma segment becomes its own file, which is what makes this different from simply extracting pages.

• 1-3 — pages one to three, as one file.
• 1-3, 7 — two files: pages one to three, and page seven on its own.
• 8- — page eight to the end.
• -4 — the start through page four.

Leave the box empty to keep the whole document as a single file — useful when you only want to strip the password or re-save it.

Which mode to use

By range is the one to reach for when the document has structure you already know — a report where pages one to four are the summary and the rest is appendix, or a scanned batch where you know where each document starts.

Every N pages suits documents with a regular shape: double-sided scans, multi-page invoices, or anything you need cut into equal parts to stay under an upload limit.

Every page gives you one file per page. It is the right choice for pulling apart a batch scan, and the wrong one for a 300-page book unless you really want 300 files.
