Terms of service

The short version: use it for anything lawful, don’t abuse it, and understand that a free tool comes with no guarantees.

These terms govern your use of PDF Spree at pdfspree.com, operated by [operator name to be confirmed] (“we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the site.

The service

PDF Spree provides tools for working with PDF and related document formats. Most run in your browser; some run on our servers. Tools are provided free of charge, funded by advertising.

We may add, change, limit or remove tools at any time. We may impose usage limits — file sizes, page counts, rate limits — to keep the service available to everyone, and we may change those limits without notice.

Your files and your rights in them

You keep every right you already had in the documents you process. We claim no ownership of them and acquire no licence to them beyond what is strictly necessary to perform the operation you requested.

You are responsible for having the right to process the file. Do not upload documents you are not permitted to copy, modify or decrypt. See our privacy policy for what happens to a file technically, and file handling for which tools upload anything at all.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use PDF Spree to:

  • Break the law, infringe someone else’s intellectual property, or process material you have no right to process.
  • Remove password protection, encryption or access restrictions from a document you are not authorised to open.
  • Upload malware, or content that is unlawful, abusive, or sexually exploitative of children.
  • Automate access at a scale that degrades the service for others — scraping, scripted bulk submission, or attempting to bypass rate limits. If you need programmatic access, wait for the API or ask us.
  • Probe, scan or test the security of the service, or interfere with its operation.
  • Interfere with advertising, or misrepresent the service as your own.

We may block access, without notice, where we reasonably believe these terms are being breached.

No warranty

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any output will be accurate, complete or suitable for your purpose. Document conversion in particular is lossy by nature: layout, fonts, form fields and metadata may change or be lost.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, nor for lost profits, lost data, lost documents, or business interruption, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or ten US dollars.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Third-party services

The site displays advertising and links to third-party sites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, products or practices.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction to be confirmed], and the courts of [jurisdiction to be confirmed] have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings locally.
