Extract pages from a PDF

Extract, split or delete?

These three tools overlap, and picking the wrong one costs you a round trip.

• Extract pulls a selection into one new document. Ten pages selected means one file with ten pages.
• Split cuts a document into several files. Use it when you want each range to become its own PDF.
• Delete keeps the document and removes pages from it — the same result as extracting everything else, but you select the pages you want gone rather than the ones you want kept.

Selecting pages quickly

Click the first page of a run, then shift-click the last one to take everything between them. Select all followed by clicking the few pages you do not want is usually faster than picking pages one at a time, and Invert flips your selection if you realise you have been choosing the wrong half.

Extracted pages keep their original order regardless of the order you clicked them in. If you need a different sequence, extract first and then use Reorder pages.
